Sex Ed Horror Stories

Awful, awful stories. I will never understand why sane people have such a hard time educating the next generation about sex. In a religious context, controlling sex ed is away of controlling people – I get that. But why would normal people NOT want their kids to know that sex makes babies, so unless you want babies you should take measures to prevent unwanted pregnancies?

I Want to Save the World… But How?

There are a lot of things in this world that are really, really wrong. People who are killed, families torn apart, children who are starving. So many of us seem set on promoting violence and war instead of peace. How many millions have died because we couldn’t get along and show love to our neighbors?

Then there are all of the problems that have come with industrialization and modern things. The great power of science is being used for profit instead of the good of the people and the very future of humanity could be at stake (antibiotic resistant illnesses, GMO’s, global warming caused by plastics and so many other things, polluted air and water, chemicals in our food and everything around us).

It’s a lot to take in, and once you have taken it all in, you’re left wondering, “Well… what now? What can I do?” More

IFB Teachings: Nonsense

I try to keep this blog civil, but this is stuff that needs to be said. This is stuff I was raised to believe as an Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB). My parents may or may not have taught me these things, but they were most certainly taught or inferred by church, school, college, and fellow IFB.

  • Better use the right version of the Bible, KJV to be specific. ¬†Avoid all music that makes you want to move, so just go for old hymns and you’ll be safe.
  • Spank your children, don’t trust them, because they are born with a horrible sin nature and are really little monsters bound for Hell.
  • Send them to a strict Christian school or home school them yourself, because it wouldn’t do for them to pick up worldly notions or learn from a curriculum that wasn’t Christ-centered. Once they’re college age, be sure they attend a college that is KJV only, against contemporary music, and has all it’s p’s and q’s straight, biblically speaking. Ideally this college will implement strict curfews, dating rules, and remain in support of parental authority despite the age and status of the student. More

Article: My Sister Blocked Me On Facebook Over Chick-Fil-A

An excellent article that illustrates how zealotry can divide even the closest of family members. I can totally relate.
